Three Days Till Take-off

100_2206

Well I just got back from one of the most amazing roadtrips I have ever been on!  My buddy Austin and I, in our last get together before my big trip, headed out in search of adventures and that is exactly what we found.  We started out from Austin’s home of La Verne, California and our trip took us to many destinations.  Each destination brought with it new adventures and new experiences.

I got to dive into the Pacific Ocean to watch some of my buddies spear-fish (that’s Austin in the picture by the way), I learned to surf, I got to trespass on a golf-course to go ice-blocking, I explored the towns of Laguna Beach, San Diego, and Poway (its pronounced Pow-way lol), and I got to hang out with tons of cool people and make some new friends.  Road trips are the greatest!

Now I’m back home and it is now three days until my plane leaves for Africa.  Needless to say I have been frantic with preparing and packing.  A few of the items on my list are my numerous medicines aimed at battling the perils of Africa, plenty of nice clothes (the Africans like looking sharp), my passport, and my new journal just to name a few (trust me there is much much more).

Anyway I can’t remember how many times I’ve double checked my bag and still I find no comfort.  I always feel like I’m forgetting something (which I probably am).  Hopefully I’ll be ready in time for take-off.

The Beginning: Pre-Africa

100_0602 It has been about three months since Westmont closed its doors for the summer (well at least for those of us lucky enough not to be subjected to May-Term) and it certainly has been eventful.  I got my old job back working at Town and Country Market.  I got paid loads of money that all went towards a plane ticket. I spent lots of time with my lovely girlfriend Holly.

I was able to catch up with a few friends and go hiking in the Wild.

And my sisters and I were taking on the world again.

Now I am twenty-three days away from heading off to Africa.  The anticipation is growing and I’m pretty much ready to head off.  I decided to make this blog to keep my friends and family updated on the experiences I am sure to have in Africa, so stay tuned for more of my exciting and amazing adventures!! (I watch the Travel Channel way to much)
